Month of Thanks

Hello to whoever may be reading this. My name is Dani and yes, I work for a company called Walker’s Farm Home and Tack (hopefully you’ve heard of it). My job is to write about all the cool things that happen here at the store like seminars, sales, etc.. and to give you an insiders perspective about what we are all about here at Walker’s.

Now, perhaps you are wondering who I am and maybe even what I do (beside writing these blogs of course), so let me give a quick introduction about myself. I’m a recent grad from Cazenovia College with a fancy titled degree that combines my passion of horses with something more practical like business. I’m a animal-aholic currently with 5 pekin ducks, 3 cats, 2 dogs, and 4 horses. I am the Internet Sales Coordinator here at Walkers. I’m the person who puts all of those products you see on our website, (www.walkerstore.cc in case you feel an urge to check it out), maintain social media sites (like us on our Facebook Page) and any online marketing campaigns. I also get the fun job of helping to put together all the cool seminars we hold here.

Ok enough about me; let’s get to the reason why I’m writing this blog. This month is all about giving thanks. I’ve seen people post all over various social media sites things their thankful for—family, friends, pets, coffee, alarm clocks—you name it I’ve seen it. Here at Walker’s we are thankful for our customers. And I know I sound really cliché right now, but if you’ve ever been to the store or called us up, you would know it’s true. We love getting to know our customers and celebrating when they get a new horse, welcome a grandchild into the world, and even fix the leaky faucet that’s been giving them trouble. We don’t just try to sell our products, we get to know you. So when you ask if that shirt looks good on you we can give you an honest answer (no that’s definitely not you, here try this shirt instead).

Now to show our thanks and appreciation to our customers, this month we are doing a ton fun things:

The first is a chance to win a Walker’s Gift Card for someone who has been a significant influence on your life. All you have to do is write, in 250 words or less, why you are thankful for that person and send it to orders@walkerstore.cc (me!). At the end of the month a winner who the Walker’s staff thinks is most deserving will win the gift card! So if you have someone in your life you couldn’t live without and who helped make you who you are today, get to writing!

The second is a sale! What better way to say thanks to our customers than to save them money right? Well this Saturday through Monday (Nov 9th-Nov 11th) there will be 20% off of all clothing and footwear!! So those work boots that are duck taped together? Get rid of them and get a new one! We’ve got hundreds of boots to choose from, check them out here. Yes, this includes Carhartt, Columbia, Woolrich, and more! So if you need to get some new winter clothes now is the time.  And to you early shoppers, this is a great opportunity to check a few people off your list!

The Third is an energy saving + weatherization seminar on Weds Nov 16th at 6pm. Who doesn’t want to learn how to save big on your energy and heating bills? Tyler Whitney from the Economic Opportunity Council will talk about the energy saving and weatherization assistance services available to individuals and families residing in Washington County. Then listen to a presentation from Frank Wade of the EOC on what $100 can do for you on energy savings! Give-a-ways such as energy efficient lights will be raffled off at the end of the night. This is a fun event you can’t afford to miss!

The Fourth is Thanksgiving crafts for the kids. Bring the kids by Saturday Nov. 23rd and let them make some fun thanksgiving themed crafts like a pilgrim hat! Check our facebook or website later on in the month for more details about this event.

And with that, it is time for me to get back to my other duties. Thanks for reading!

Dani P.
